The Boo-Hooray Theory

The Boo-Hooray Theory is a band occasionally convened  by Ian Lawson (Iain James Veitch) and his long-time collaborator Ben Heneghan to perform and record the very many pop-songs the pair have composed over the decades.

Iain and Ben started writing pop songs shortly after meeting as post-graduate composition students at Cardiff University. During the 1980s they wrote and recorded many such songs before finding greater success in composing for film and TV.

The most significant achievement so far for the Boo-Hooray Theory  is the album Follow the Gleam which was eventually released in 2013.

This manifestation of the band consists of a classic line up of lead vocals (Ben Heneghan, keyboards, guitar, bass guitar, horn section consisting of alto and tenor  saxes, trumpet and trombone and 2 female backing singers.

Below we have five videos taken from the Boo-Hooray Theory's second and last concert. One feature of this band was Iain's son Andrew Lawson on drums and Ben Heneghan's son Mikey on bass guitar. The band was joined for one item by Maldwyn Pope for a reditions of Iain's most well know composition - Fireman Sam!
